View from above.
I’ll post more about the process involved later, we’re moving our head office at Homeworks (they’re moving into our Burnaby showroom location) so once everything settles down I’ll have time to write.

If a tree falls on the beach how many carpenter ants get a sunburn?

(If you can guess the correct answer, I’ll try and catch a fish for you!)

Going...

There’s a couple of trees we had to remove from the property (Actually, on my neighbour’s property). One of them had erosion problems and structural problems in the rooting system.

Going...

It looks like it was hit by lightening. About two thirds up the tree is the split and it was just full of carpenter ants and bugs.

Still going...

It was dangerous because as you can see in the picture below, it’s about 70 per cent rotten. Instead of having nice rings to look at it’s all just mush, about a third of the tree just fell off – you can see the gap missing in the stump.

We’ve had to burn the tree. The fall-off and vegetation there is so tinder dry, if we left all those needles it would be a fire hazard in the summer time. It just so happens that it rained the day before, so it was quite wet in the morning. But it’s very unlikely we’ll have any more fires there this year though, it’s too dangerous.

Gone.

Colour on the Beach, Colour on the Cottage…

My daughter Britta, painting the trim.
Just wanted to post a couple pics of some paint trim we’re doing on the house and the colourful lupins, the wildflowers that grow up around that area. I’ll be writing a blog about what happened to one of the trees infront of the house, shortly. Until then, check out the David Suzuki website, where they recently posted a link to this little ol’ blog! David Suzuki Nature Challenge
